How Are Roof Tiles Made

Clay tiles are considered to be one of the longest lasting roofing materials available even substantially longer than concrete ones.

Slate roof tiles are made of metamorphic rocks which are derived from sedimentary rock of volcanic ash and clay. Flat roof tiles are usually made of clay but also may be made of stone wood plastic concrete or solar cells. Wet clay was fashioned into shape sometimes with the help of a wooden mold and then left to dry in the sun or fired in a small brick kiln. Today almost all roofing tiles are machine made.
